Student Matters
The ZICA Programme student matters Student matters are handled by the Education department. This is headed by the Education Secretary who is assisted in his duties by the Examinations Officer and a Student Liaison Officer in Lusaka and Kitwe offices.
About The ZICA Accountancy Programme
The ZICA Accountancy Programme is a result of unprecedented co-operation among various stakeholders that included Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ), Technical Education Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority (TEVETA), Copperbelt University (CBU), ministry of Finance and National Planning, (MFNP) and training providers such as the Zambia Centre for Accountancy Studies (ZCAS), Zambia Institute of Management (ZAMIM), NIEC School of Management, National Institute for Public Administration (NIPA), Evelyn Hone College (EHC), Zambia Insurance Business College (ZIBC), and the University of Zambia (UNZA).
The ZICA Accountancy Programme evolved from the need to offer a full accountancy professional qualification of international standing which would be well administered and well supported with texts and other materials.
Entry Requirements
A full School Certificate or its equivalent with at least five(s) credits or better including English and Mathematics.
GCE holders can also register through the Mature Age Entry Route (MAER). These will be required to initially sit and pass Financial Accounting and Mathematics & Statistics only before attempting the remaining subjects at the ZICA Technician Level.
Registration forms are available for down loading but they can also be obtained at the Secretariat or from colleges offering the course. They are also available at the ZICA Kitwe Office.
Method of Study
The method of study for the programme may either be on Full time, Part time, or Self Study basis.

Exemptions
Exemptions are given for qualifications of good standing such as CABS. Qualifications such as ATD, CIA, AAT e.t.c will only be granted exemption upon assessment in subjects with grades of 50% and above. Note that no exemptions are given at the final stage of the ZICA Programme.

Career Progression
The ZICA Accountancy Qualification provides prospects for graduates to work in any organisation including the public sector. The graduates’ scope and depth of knowledge, skill and attitude is comparable to any quality world class accountancy qualification.
The ZICA Accountancy Programme qualification provides an opportunity for students to seek exemptions in other qualifications such as CIMA or ACCA. A full ZICA qualification is also a stepping stone for higher qualifications such as an MBA Degree at Copperbelt University.
ZICA Membership
Upon completion of the Technician Level one can apply for ZICA Technician membership. On the other hand upon completion of the Licentiate level one can apply for ZICA Licentiate membership. Finally upon completion of Professional Stage and with adequate experience one can apply for Associate membership.

Examination Rules and Regulations
- No candidate shall be allowed to sit for more than four (4) subjects at any one sitting.
- A candidate with more than two (2) arrears at any level, shall NOT be allowed to attempt any subjects at the next stage.
- A candidate shall not be allowed to attempt a subject at a high level if s/he has not passed the foundation subject at a lower level.
- A candidate registered through the Mature Age Entry Route (MAER) will only be allowed to attempt two subjects only i.e. Financial Accounting and Mathematics and Statistics at any one sitting at the ZICA Technician Level.
- Credit shall be given for any subject passed with a grade of 50% and above.
ZICA Examination Centres
ZICA has twenty (20) approved examination centres spread evenly across the country. Examinations are conducted at the same time in all these centres. Plans are underway to create formal linkages with other accountancy bodies in the region through the establishment of strategic partnerships. It is envisaged that additional examination centres will be opened up in other countries as soon as the partnerships are formalised.
