The incumbent shall provide Strategy and Communications (BDSC/Business Development) linked to planning, developing, coordinating, implementing and facilitating the rolling out of the Balanced Score Card linkages with the Chartered Accountant Worldwide (CAW);  developing all  aspects of the marketing strategy development for current and new services and corporate communication activities.


The ideal candidate must be able to effectively work in a team environment, prioritize multiple projects, deadlines, and have excellent communication and writing skills.

Key Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Planning, Marketing and Business Development

  • Manage the planning and resource allocations of the Annual Marketing Budget with a clear rationale for spending versus ROI;
  • Formulate annual operational plans for the Business Development department;
  • Coordinate the publication of the Annual Report;

Balance Score Card Implementation and Management

  • Lead the Core Team in the implementation of the BSC as planning, communication, and measurement tool for the Institute’s performance;
  • Provide feedback to all staff on their performance against the BSC perspectives;
  • Develop strategic themes and strategic objectives with core teams, and track performance of the Institute, Directorates and staff;

Partnering and collaborations

  • As contact person for the CAW, coordinate internally with the management team to address the key deliverables for the Associate membership of CAW;
  • Create awareness of CAW and its activities among employees, members, students and other stakeholders;
  • Backstop the contact persons for IFAC and PAFA and internalise within ZICA operations;
  • Formulate and maintain superior working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders i.e. members, students, media, government, professional accountancy bodies, professional bodies and business community;
  • Be an ambassador for ZiCA with key external stakeholders;

Branding and Marketing

  • Develop and strengthen the unique value proposition about ZiCA as a corporate brand locally and internationally;
  • Position and strengthen the “Chartered Accountant” Brand locally and regionally and enhance its recognition;
  • Develop business development strategies for current and new services the Institute offers;
  • Set up and deliver a robust CRM strategy for the diverse membership. This includes the contact plan for various audiences – firms and members;

Client Perceptions and Feedback

  • Develop a framework for measurement of client/customer perceptions of the members, students and other key stakeholders bi-annually;
  • Develop appropriate segmental strategies informed by study findings and recommendations;
  • Business Analysis;
  • Conduct customer profile, competitor analysis and update management on the changing market situations;

Communication & Marketing Campaigns

  • Oversee the marketing and corporate communications activities across the business;
  • Develop eye catching messages, promotional materials, and marketing campaigns for various services offered by the Institute;
  • Maintain a distinctive presence of the Institute at key events locally and internationally. This task will involve the management of the Institute’s emails, publications, social and multimedia, advertising campaigns in line with the marketing strategy;


  • Provide advisory service to the Institute on taking public policy positions on other issues where required;
  • Play an advisory role to the Executive Management Team in the development and implementation of retention and recruitment strategies, collaborations with other international and local stakeholders;

Organisational Capacity and Management

  • Improve the capacity of staff in the department through training and development;
  • Carry out any other legal assignments from the Chief Executive Officer;


  • Bachelor Degree in Marketing; Business Administration; or equivalent
  • Post graduate Degree in Marketing /Business Administration will be an added advantage;

Professional Training

  • Balanced Score Card Certification

Professional Membership

  • Member of the Zambia Institute of Marketing


  • Minimum 5 years marketing experience at a small to mid-size professional services organization.
