ACCOUNTANTS: SUSTAINING VALUE CREATION

In November 2010, the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (“MIA”) will host the 18th World Congress of Accountants (“WCOA”). It is a great triumph for MIA and Malaysia in being the 4th Asian country to be accorded the honour to organise the world’s largest gathering of accountants, financial and business leaders. The theme for the congress, “Accountants: Sustaining Value Creation,” is in harmony with the present and future trend of the global economy. The international accountancy profession, more than ever, needs to exert its leadership and expertise by creating value and upholding business integrity in both the private and public sectors to sustain long term growth.

About the World Congress of Accountants

WCOA is held under the sponsorship of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).

With its inception in 1904, the Congress, which has been held every five years since 1977 and every four years since 2002, is the foremost international event for the accountancy profession.

This is a highly respected and well attended global forum attracting a meeting of influential communities to share in the latest information, innovative ideas and to exchange views in a platform of international and regional interest
