PRACTICE REVIEW OFFICER

POSITION SUMMARY

Assisting to carry out regular checks on the practice of professional accountants in public and private sectors in order to ensure that ethical and professional standards are maintained. Provide information to the manager in order to update ZICA Management of the prevailing practice. To keep a register of all paid up old and new members.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Evaluations

  • Assisting with evaluations to ensure that members’ quality control policies and procedures for their accounting, auditing and tax services practice are appropriately comprehensive and suitably designed.
  • Meeting and interviewing firm personnel to understand the firms’ quality control structures, the audit approach to audit engagements and further develop quality control, identify audit deficiencies.
  • Verifying the closure of audit issues and actions

Monitoring

  • Undertaking routine checks on practicing accountants to ascertain compliance with professional standards and quality control procedures.
  • Monitoring the work of accountants to ensure that generally accepted accounting, auditing, and assurance standards are upheld as set out in the Rules of Professional conduct of the Institute.
  • Conducting audit review of working papers to ensure compliance with professional standards;
  • With the Practice Review Manager, assessing the firm’s quality control structures and the related impact these structure have on audit quality;
  • Preparing comments forms and draft inspection reports.
  • Assisting with providing technical support to practitioners by developing technical templates tools and resources in order to maintain high professional standards;
  • Communicating findings to firm personnel in meetings and in comment forms
  • Researching and consulting with others on technical issues;
  • Gathering and organizing information to support identified inspection issues
  • Conducting visits’ to all practicing accountants and maintains as updated database of members

Updating register

Keeping an updated database of all accountants in a compliance file

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Professional qualification in Accountancy – ZICA, ACCA, CIMA
  2. Associate of ZICA

  EXPERIENCE:

  3 years practical experience   in management accounting, financial accounting  as well as knowledge of audit, systems and procedures.

REQUIRED SKILLS

– Computer literate and ability to use various accounting packages

–  Well- developed management skills;

–  Good working knowledge of computers and   accounting packages

–  Report writing

–  Excellent communications skills

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

– Well developed analytical and problem Solving skills in order to be able to evaluate information or situations.

–   Good inter personal relationships

–   Able to work with minimum supervision

The successful applicant will be a self-starter and able to respond quickly to issues. He/she will be willing to travel extensively either locally or outside Zambia.
