Topic: Anti – Money Laundering / Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT)
The Government of the Republic of Zambia established the Financial Intelligence Centre (‘the Centre’) through the enactment of the Financial Intelligence Centre Act No. 46 of 2010 (as amended) (the Act). The Centre in Collaboration with ZiCA has organized an AML/CFT awareness workshop for accountants and auditors based in the Copperbelt. The workshop is intended to accord accountants and auditors a chance to interact with the Centre and their supervisor on AML/CFT issues. This is in light, sections 2 of the Act designates Accounting and audit firms as reporting entities and are considered as a strategic partners in the fight against Money Laundering/Terrorist Financing and other financial crimes.
